trauma & PTSD

Trauma is different than crisis. Trauma is any serious injury to the body, often resulting from violence or an accident. Traumatic situations would include:

  • Any serious injury to the body, often resulting from violence or an accident.

PTSD is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or traumatic event.

Crisis is a crucial or decisive point or situation; an unstable situation. Crisis situations would include:

  • A sudden change in the course of a disease, usually at which the patient is expected to recover or die.

  • (psychology) A traumatic or stressful change in a person's life.
